Sawadee Kha!  Welcome to the Thai Dee Maew Cattery website!  Thank you for visiting.  For best results, please use a computer (rather than a cell phone) to view.  There are a lot of pictures and videos on this site that can take time to load!    This site is actively under construction.  Updates are being made on a daily basis!   If you have questions and you are interested in our kittens we have available, please read through the information on our website first and if your questions cannot be answered, then send us an email:  thaideemaew@yahoo.com

Thai Dee Maew in Thai language means
'Good Thai Cat.'

Dee = good / maew = cat.

Thai Dee Maew Cattery is located in a suburb of Waterford, Michigan.

This cattery is selective, so you should be prepared to answer any screening questions.  If you are seriously interested, we need to see your adoption application completed for consideration, which is found at the bottom of the main menu.  The Purchase Information page explains the steps involved in how to acquire a cat or kitten from us.  The Available page is kept up-to-date with the kittens and cats we have available.  As soon as they become unavailable, we remove the relevant photos and videos from that page or mark them 'reserved.'  For more photos and videos, you can also find us on Facebook where we post on a regular basis.

 If you are concerned about being allergic to our cats, do know that about 90% of the people who get our kittens are highly allergic (to cats) and even in the worst case scenarios, people are not reporting intolerable reactions to our low-allergen cats.  We know from years of experience how to match allergy sufferers to which kittens would make the best possible fit.  An assessment can be made and recommendations will be offered (should your application be approved).  While there is no such thing as a non-allergen cat and the term 'hypoallergenic cat' remains controversial, the long haired cats from Thai Dee Maew will be as close to these ideals as you can find anywhere.

The application process is for the protection of our cats and kittens and to help us narrow down which ones might be suitable for the applicants who are approved.  You will find similar applications with any shelter or rescue as well as with the better quality breeders who take excellent care of their cats and they expect as good or better care for them once they leave to go to their permanent homes.  All answers and information given are kept confidential.

Please do not spam our email address with the type of email that has obviously been sent to a number of other breeders asking for price or availability.  This could be considered phishing, bargain shopping or just poor buyer's etiquette.  Most breeders don't answer these emails anyway.  If you want to be taken seriously, answering the adoption application will do that.

 We have a very strict no visitors allowed policy when it comes to our cats/kittens.  Sorry, but there are no exceptions, so please do not ask!  Thai Dee Maew kittens are only handled by us or for medical purposes by licensed veterinary specialists.

Thai Dee Maew Cattery is directly affiliated with Thai Cat Fancier's Club of Thailand.  A link to the club's facebook page is listed below:

Lorraine Shelton wrote: "Sounds like you have made an excellent case for the recognition of the Suphalak as a unique breed. Leave the breed named "Burmese" as a US invention and pursue the rightful recognition of the Suphalak in all cat registries in the world. I look forward to meeting a true Suphalak one day. The closest I've gotten has been Mod Dang, who may be better termed a Wichenmat, as you've stated." and "Calling the sepia mink cat pictured a Wichenmat is consistent with early English and American reports of "two types" of Siamese being imported in the 1800's and early 1900's."   May 4th, 2013

Thank you Lorraine for your words of encouragement and we hope that one day you will have a chance to meet our outstanding Suphalak, Thonga!  She has certainly made history as the first confirmed Suphalak documented by the Thai government and exported to America.  Also, Thonga made history on September 6, 2015 when she became the first Suphalak ever registered as a Suphalak (New Breed) by an established and legitimate cat registry, The American Cat Association, Inc.!  We are honored about proud to have made this possible.

What's more, Thonga was the first Suphalak to reproduce this rare color (on foreign soil).  She is also the very first Suphalak to be used for the Tibetan cat breeding program and her rare Tibetan kittens became the first registered Tibetans in North America.   We will continue to keep breaking ground with not only the Suphalak and Tibetans, but other rare Thai cats as well.

We cannot thank Kamnan Preecha (a.k.a 'Uncle Preecha') of Baan Maew Thai in Ampawa, Thailand enough for his dedication and commitment to preserving and promoting the integrity of Thai cats!  Without his time and effort to properly educate us (especially about the rare Suphalak), our cattery would not have been possible.  Our goal is to honor this remarkable breeder for all his efforts and assist him with making his lifetime dream come true of having the Suphalak recognized as a separate breed (apart from the Burmese cat) and to preserve the bloodlines by registering proper Suphalaks with as many registries as possible (just as the same has already been done with the Korat and the Siamese).  Kamnan Preecha is now deceased.  May he rest in peace and his legacy continue to benefit Thai cats and people around the world.
