This is the purchase information page. If you want to see what cats we have available, go back to the main menu, click on 'Available' and go to our Facebook page for more videos and photos.

If you are new to the process of purchasing from a breeder, do know that this is a potential relationship and we are not trying to earn everyone's money out there like an ordinary business. Our goal is to find the best possible homes for our kittens/cats with people that we feel most confident in. We reserve the right to refuse anyone at anytime for any reason and without disclosure. However, we never discriminate based on religion, gender, politics, ethnicity, race, national origin or disability, but we certainly do take age into consideration! A buyer's etiquette, good attitude, listening skills and cooperation are also very important factors in this proces
Here are the steps involved in acquiring a cat from us:
Step one: Read the information on our website paying particular attention to what is on the Available, FAQ, Queens, Kings, Previous Kittens pages and this page of course.
Step two: Copy and paste the Adoption Application in your email. Answer those questions and send it to our email address: thaideemaew@yahoo.com.
Please do not send it as an attachment or PDF file.
Step three:
If your application is approved, we will be calling you to discuss everything and narrow down which cats would make the best fit. Assuming that goes well, you will then be asked to provide two references that we will call for more information. These references should be to a veterinarian as well as someone who knows you, has been to your home etc., such as a neighbor who would likely be the one taking care of your pets while you are on a vacation. If you do not have a veterinarian, the other reference can be another friend or neighbor who has been to your home and knows you well.
Step four: If all goes well in the first three steps, you will be invited to place a non-refundable deposit (via Paypal) to reserve a specific cat for you until you are ready to come and pick up for the exchange. We also confirm the pick up date and time. Once your deposit is placed, we email you important information regarding food, litter, health related details and best quality furniture that is recommended, so you can make your preparations before the cat arrives.
Step five: We meet you and go over the contract, which takes one hour to an hour and a half. It is signed and we get ready to make the exchange. The balance is due at that time and it must be made in cash only! Our kittens are handed over only after the final payment is made and the contract has been signed. Under no circumstances will our kittens be handed over to be played with before the final payment is made. You will have plenty of opportunity to play with your kitten in your own home all you want later on. For the meeting and exchange, we have established public places (e.g. airports) where security cameras are installed. We have been strongly advised by our attorney, the police and insurance companies to not do this exchange at our home or on our property, especially with people we have never met before! Everyone has been very satisfied with our designated meeting places, so we are going to stick with those.

Our kittens have gone to the following states:
Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Minnesota,
Wisconsin, Missouri, Maryland, Nebraska, South Dakota, Kentucky, North Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Florida, New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Connecticut, New Jersey, California, Utah and Washington.
We are no longer shipping our kittens!  If you live out-of-state, please check with the economy airlines for prices as they are generally less costly than shipping, which is running about $400-$450 in total with everything.  Most airlines will allow you to take the kitten on board with you in an approved carrier.  We can meet you at the Detroit International Airport for a small fee.

Our kittens are raised in a home environment.  We have no cattery-style facilities for our cats and they are raised in two separate homes.  Our cats are members of the family!  Our kittens leave us no sooner than 12 weeks old.  A health record, health guarantee, kitten care pack (with toys, harness, brush, nail clippers, etc.), microchip, 30 days free pet health insurance and registration papers are provided with all of our kittens.  Please see our FAQ page about our vaccine options.  Thai Dee Maew is a registered cattery with the American Cat Association and the Cat Fancier's Association.  Our Tibetans are also eligible for registration in Europe.

Our kittens are not available to be given as surprise gifts to anyone!  If your application is approved, we will need to speak with both husband and wife (or both partners) before a final decision is made.

Thai Dee Maew does not operate like a commercialized pet store (or online catalog).  Our cats and kittens live inside our homes, which are not open to the public for visitation and tours. Our pricing information is strictly private (unless otherwise given).   The only way we are giving prices out is by quality telephone conversation with people who pass our initial screening process and for people who are approved after they've sent in an application.  If you're working with a budget and you can only spend a certain amount on your next kitten, you need to be upfront and honest about that for obvious reasons.  No kittens are promised or reserved unless a deposit is placed.  Deposits are to put a hold on kittens until they are ready for pick-up or shipping.  Refunds on deposits are not given, so it's important that you make a commitment to the purchase before placing a deposit.  Kittens and all related fees must be paid for in full at the time of  pick-up.Pictures and videos of the kittens as they are growing are frequently taken, which are regularly uploaded on the website and/or on our facebook page.  References are given upon request and provided via Google.reviews.

General information:
All kittens are born with blue eyes and it takes many weeks for us to know what color or shade they will turn out.

Standard colored Balinese come in seal, chocolate, blue and lilac points.  They are highly sought after by people with allergies to cats (as are Siberians).  The average price of a standard colored Balinese kitten is $800-$1,600. If you're looking to find an age appropriate Balinese kitten that is lower than the average cost, it is either because you are bargain shopping or haven't the funds. Sometimes breeders lower their prices if they have an older kitten, but this is rare.  If you're bargain shopping, you are advised to look for a retired adult breeder (not a kitten) or wait until your financial situation improves so you can afford what you really want.  Bear in mind that price depends on quality (of the kittens), location of the breeder and how in-demand their cats are!  If you think these prices are high, just ask a breeder about their veterinary expenses.  A one hour surgery and hospital stay could easily cost us many thousands!

Kittens with a long haired Balinese coat (including Tibetans and Orientals) will shed far less than any short haired cat!  Do not get a short haired cat thinking they will shed less than a long haired Balinese or Tibetan as you would be very wrong about that!  The Balinese coat is single layered and they molt more like a rabbit or bird does in the spring.  The rest of the time they remain low-shedding, especially compared with Siamese.

Males do NOT spray if they are neutered!  Do not pick a female just because you think a male will spray and a female will not!  Both males and females that are not altered carry the risk of spraying.  Yes, even females spray!  We have a strict spay/neutered clause in our contract!

Cats get very lonely, especially if they do not have another cat to play and sleep with.  They really need companionship 24/7 from a member of their own species.  It's not easy to get an adult cat to accept a new feline in their territory, so it's best to get two siblings from the same litter.  They are more fun in pairs, stay healthier, happier, out of trouble and more content when they have a sibling to bond with.  Anyone who's taken our advice to get two siblings has always had a good experience with it and they thanked us very much for making this recommendation.  We sometimes offer a BOGO discount when purchasing two kittens at the same time.  Please inquire as to which ones may be available with this discount.
We currently have Tibetans, Balinese and Suphalak available.  Deposits are being accepted to hold them until they are ready to leave us.  Whether male or female, this will make no difference in how these kittens may affect your allergies.  Both are equally fine, but white is the best color for the least chance of causing an allergic response.

Thai Dee Maew does not cater to price-shoppers, bargain hunters or people who are just looking for an ordinary 'cheap cat.'  It's important that you are in a financially secure position before beginning your search for a new feline family member.  If you're on a tight budget and concerned that you might not be able to afford our kittens (or from another reputable breeder), you most likely would not make a suitable home for our kittens.  There are far too many impulsive people looking for pets when they are by no means ready to make a 20-year-long commitment, or able to afford them.  If this sounds like you, please reconsider your search and wait until you are ready, have done your research and are well-prepared for a strong financial and serious lifelong commitment!

Anyone who is emailing us just to ask about price and availability, especially without giving us any information about themselves, will be ignored or directed to our website.  We do not accept text messages about our kittens or conduct business via text messages about our kittens.  We feel that anyone who is serious enough about our kittens would want to speak with us directly (rather than hide behind a computer or phone making repeated text messages and emails).  If you are too busy to speak on the phone or to email, you're much too busy for a pet, especially a young kitten.
I realize what I am about to say next may seem common sense to most people reading this, but it needs to be said (for the people who just don't understand).  This is not a pet store!  We do NOT have 'customers' anymore than you would if you were selling a personal item from your home. This is a private cattery, where we live, which is not open to the public to come by and window shop.  Those people who email us to inquire about our cats are welcome to do so, but we do not consider them a 'customer' just because they show some interest.  We may offer you buying privileges, but it is not a given just because you inquire about price and availability.  We screen all applicants and reserve the right to refuse anyone at any time for any reason, especially if we detect a sense of entitlement or arrogance to begin with!  We are looking for quality clients that we can entrust with our precious feline family members that are deeply loved.  Our kittens are not to be treated like merchandise to buy off the shelf like you were looking for an appliance at the best price.  It offends us deeply when people call or email us with a pretentious attitude.  This isn't retail, we are not sales associates and we don't offer any services to the public.  If you find this offensive, you are more than welcome to go elsewhere with your 'business.'  To our competition, you are welcome to have people like this!  If you found humor and agreement in the above, we hope to hear from you soon!

Please be informed of the following:
Thai Dee Maew does not cater to price-shopping bargain hunters or people who are just looking for an ordinary 'cheap cat.'  If this is what you are looking for, please seek out a reputable rescue organization and be prepared to answer adoption related questions that become very personal in nature.  If you need assistance with finding one, we are happy to refer you.  However, we do not accept responsibility for any dealings you may have with them (good or bad).  Also, bear in mind that it is most likely only adult cats that they have available.  Rarely available purebred kittens would come from less than ideal (to put it mildly) rescue situations and these kittens are expectantly fractious (in nature), sick or both.  While we support adoptions of rescues, you need to be aware of the risks!  Here is a quote from one rescuer:

"The problem with shelters and pulling them from there, which I do all the time btw, is that there are so many animals there, coming from every corner of the planet, which is why there is such a problem with disease/virus control.  Not because they are not using a disinfectant, but because the viruses seem to be the strongest most heartiest around. I think it's because of this that almost every time I pull cats from there, a matter of days later they come down with a uri, and it's always a bitch to get rid of. Very hard, long time of meds, etc. "

Quality always come with a price.  Never buy from any breeder who is offering you a cheap kitten as they are likely not well-bred (very poor quality) and/or not well-cared for!  This is especially true when the breeder doesn't seem to ask you any questions other than when you are sending the money. You could end up being scammed or with an anti-social/fearful or sick kitten that could cost you thousands of dollars in vet bills and still end up with a dead kitten (or one you regret ever getting)!  We constantly hear the horror stories from people who got their kittens elsewhere!  Never assume that you can trust a breeder because they are with a certain registry that lists their cattery as a "Cattery of Excellence!"  Some of these are the worst catteries you could ever imagine!  You have been warned!

We spend a fortune on our cats to ensure their complete well-being .  You get what you pay for!  Our kittens deserve the best quality homes with educated individuals who are smart enough to look for quality over a 'cheap' price!  Our typical clients are doctors, professors, lawyers, teachers and elite business professionals who have taken a long time (sometimes years) to do their research looking for a kitten and breeder before finding us.  We care deeply for our kittens (even long after they are gone from our homes) and our clients know this very well.

If you are looking for a kitten to give as a surprise gift (for Christmas, birthdays or whatever reason) to your friend or relative (e.g. parent, grandparent, daughter, son, granddaughter and so on) who does not live in the same home as you, it's important that you understand we do NOT allow this!  Our kittens are not props to be used and exploited in that fashion where they could be surrendered or dumped by the receiver who later decides they don't want to accept the responsibilities that come along with having a pet. We make exceptions for families who are fully engaged in the process, but the kitten is not by any means a 'surprise' gift. An example would be a husband who has finally consented to his wife and children's constant request for a kitten and he has informed them before adopting the kitten/s from us.  Everyone understands the kittens are a 'Christmas present' from him. The family delightfully agrees; they come to our home to pick out their kitten/s and we approve of them.  Kittens given as gifts to young children who are living in your home may be considered on a case-by-case basis.  However, we expect the parent/s to be ultimately responsible for all of the care and needs of the kitten/s.  The kitten/s must be accepted as part of the whole family rather than my so-and-so's cat.

Lastly, our time is valuable.  Although we love to educate the public about these wonderful cats, we simply cannot carry on dozens of emails with someone who is thankless and not seriously interested in one of our kittens or not in any way ready to bring in a new kitten to their home.  Likewise, we do not have an hour to spend on the phone listening to someone ramble on about all their past experiences with bad breeders or their current/deceased pets.  A very brief description is fine, but if it's going over five minutes, this is too much information and the call will be ended!  The conversation needs to be primarily focused on the possibility of purchasing one of our kittens!  We are extremely busy and in the process of raising our kittens, so we need to direct our time, energy and resources in caring for them as well as answering questions for people who most likely will work with us (rather than shop us and move on to other breeders, rescues and so on).  Be considerate of our time!  We are very generous with our time when it comes to our clients, but not so generous with time wasters and we can usually detect these people within the first few emails (or minutes into a phone call).  Do not expect us to write you a book on the comparison and contrast between the Ragdoll for example (or another breed we don't have) and the Balinese.  Nor are we interested in debating the whole genetic history of the Foreign White with someone who is just looking for a pet.  Unfortunately, we have run across a great many trolls like this and so we've decided not to feed them!  If you are just curious about our breeds, we have a Breeds page with many links that are very informative.  Please go there before asking us open-ended questions.
